Nome II + Bitwig: Recording is on grid but live sound is off

Hi All,

I've been experiencing a problem since purchasing a Nome II. I'd like to be able to run independent sequencers on some gear like an Analog Rytm and a Moog Labyrinth. Using U-SYNC in Bitwig, I can align my external sequencer recordings to the grid pretty well. But when I am listening to the input, it sounds out of time (late), and therefore does not align with software instruments running simultaneously. When I record a clip and let that recording take over, it sounds perfectly in time! However, this doesn't really let me hear how things will sound until I've recorded something, and it sounds out of time until then.
I have kind of verified the behavior that I'm hearing by recording the OUTPUT of my recording track, which shows the delay that occurs. Has anyone else experienced this? I saw some discussion elsewhere of using "Recording Offset" in Bitwig but that doesn't seem to help much. My intention with using the Nome II was to have a low-friction hybrid setup that allows me to capture stuff as I improvise and change things, but this definitely puts a few obstacles in my way!

Thanks for posting this. This is a very interesting problem, and I am sure many Bitwig users would love to hear it if you find a solution.

Technically it has nothing to do with the Nome: the overall issue is that timing of the monitoring (when you hear) and the recording (where in the track it gets recorded) is different. This seems simple but it is a complex subject, in fact Ableton has many pages about it, see here: https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/secti ... 44-Latency
(I know you are using Bitwig, but a lot of these concepts are similar for all DAWs - and Bitwig probably similar options, so I would suggest reading it either way)

The Nome can shift the timing so that one of the two (monitoring/recording) is on time but since they have different times you cannot get them both on time. I would suggest to read more about monitoring through the DAW generally, and try playing with the different settings and options Bitwig gives you.
