Logic does not start/stop when I press Play/Stop on the Nome.

Any other questions, about other gear or your DAW for example.

Logic does not start/stop when I press Play/Stop on the Nome.

Post by Tombaah1982 »

Problem:
• Logic does not start/stop when I press Play/Stop on the Nome.
• The tempo from the Nome is not automatically picked up by Logic.
• Sometimes there is even a delay of 1–2 seconds before Logic reacts.

What I want to achieve:
• Nome II as a tight master clock.
• Logic should properly start/stop and follow the tempo via U-SYNC.

Has anyone managed to get this working in Logic? Am I missing a specific setting in Logic or on the Nome?

Hi :)

Thank you for asking here!

Logic is unfortunately not a DAW that can follow MIDI Clock, only Ableton, Bitwig, FL Studio, and Reason can do that. This has nothing to do with the Nome, but only with the "follow MIDI Clock" feature in the DAW.
On the other hand, this type of synchronisation uses USB-MIDI and is quite imprecise (yet practical).

What you should use is U-SYNC (as you're doing), which is very precise, and syncing the Nome to Logic (i.e. the other way). Some DAWs have the possibility of making a control script which gives the Nome the possibility of controlling the DAW, which is what you want to do. As of today this is not possible in Logic.
Making a control script would require getting specifications from Apple... which clearly is never going to happen - BUT we're working on a way around it without a script (using simple MIDI).
