inP Input Plug Mode is stuck on SYN

Post by spdk »

Hi,

I've finally got an audio interface with an extra output, and now want to use the midronome plugin, to dinsync my 909 to my DAW via the Midronome.

The 'old' plugin seems to work, when I change the tempo on my daw, the tempo on the Nome changes accordingly.

Now to setup up dinscync, I read that I need to set inP to 24p. But I don't have that option, it only says SYN, which isn't even listed as an inP option in the manual.

Updating to the newest NomeII firmware didn't help, inP's only option is still SYN.

For a bit more context. I'm trying to sync my 909 via DIN sync. So I have a minijack > din connector in the analog output of the Nome, and connected it to the sync input of the 909. Doesn't work atm.

Thanks for your help!

Just went through the settings my brother, who also owns a Nome. And now I thought I'd try to push the button a little longer and now I have the 24P options :)

So, A lot of typing for nothing, but maybe I'll run into other questions.

I have tested my 909 and 303 but both don't recieve dinsync. I'm using the ANLG output, with a jack to din cable, is that correct?

settings:
bar = 4
inp = 24p
AnL = din
Pla = bot
A.PL = On

Any sugestions? Thanks.

Hi :)

Yes - if you check the manual the "Syn" setting is not only accessible by long-pressing the knob because it should only be used to sync multiple Nomes together - see section 6 of the manual ( https://go.simntonic.com/manual ).
EDIT: actually the manual was not super clear about that, I added a note about it, thank you for that! :)

And yes your settings sound fine, my guess is that you are usnig the wrong adapter cable. You need a DIN Sync adapter cable, you cannot use a simple TRS to DIN MIDI adapter, as the pins are different.
If you're handy with a soldering iron it's pretty easy to make your own, otherwise check out OXI One's adapter (or google another DIN Sync adpter): https://www.thomann.co.uk/oxi_instrumen ... daptor.htm

Thanks, I think that must be the problem, wrong adapter.

One last question, is dinsync even more steady then midi? Because midi seems to work fine.

Well it should be the same - very stable :D

But yes if your device has MIDI I'd recommend to use that unless you have a reason not to (lack of ports, etc.).
The idea with DIN Sync is more for actual vintage devices like the original Roland 303, 606, etc. that did not have any MIDI input.
