what
Hi! I was wondering if the Midronome could send a note-on (momentary not continuous) event via the 5 pin MIDI rear holes along with the sequencer start command (when pressing PLAY), to simulate a keyboard physical key being pressed.
how
- This note-on event feature should allow choosing a specific note (pitch) in the Midronome settings menu starting with "Off" (for those who don't need it), then continuing with C-2, C-2#, D-2, E-2#, E and so on. Reaching the desired note value should be piece of cake with the big knob.
- This note-on MIDI event is only necessary when pressing for the first time the PLAY button, when starting the sequencer/arpeggio. For the second press it will not be necessary anymore. It's elementary, my dear Watson!
- We know that the "MUTE" physical button can be set to work as "PLAY" for the second 5 din MIDI output, right? Then let's add the same note-on MIDI event feature here as well since it can be useful for both connected MIDI devices!
why and for who
Such feature will be really useful to countless players using both classical synthesizers or more complex workstation keyboards such as Yamaha Motif series (which was a best selling), Montage, MODX but also for Korg Kronos, Roland Fantom and other synth players featuring a built in arpeggiator. A note-on event could trigger a drum arpeggio but also a melodic arpeggio, hence the necessity of being able to chose if the note-on should be a C1, a F3# or another pitch value. This feature will be beneficial for ANY SYNTH that can play arpeggio patches. My Waldorf Quantum, Access Virus TI2 Polar, Sequential Pro3, Prophet Rev2, the Arturia PolyBrute and of course the Yamaha Montage... all these synths have amazing arpeggios among their presets, that always require a note-on MIDI event to start playing, so you see why this feature is so important.
If you want to deep dive the topic you can check this link here: https://yamahasynth.com/forum/montage-s ... tempo-sync It's a post that I raised with Yamaha to understand which settings I must use on my Yamaha Montage workstation with the Midronome. Just read the reply of "Bad Mister" user, which is a Yamaha synth specialist for many many years. He stated that a note-on MIDI event is necessary for what I wanted and this is how I had the idea of this enhancement request.
Thank you in advance and have a lot of (synchronized) fun with your Midronome!
