Hello From Canada

Post by r3dstar77 »

Hello,

Im from Canada, been a long time user of machines that make sounds. I love Hardware synths and Sequencers, but also love using Ableton and max4live. I have a push 3 standalone and really want to conquer the hybrid setup as its so nice to use the bazillion digital fx in ableton and max4live. Along with that, I like using sequencers in my Daw or Push3 standalone along with external synths. I have not used my stuff for around a year as Ive moved around and had to take on a new job. Im now getting back into the jams and setting up my gear again. For the past year I just used an ableton move to fill the gaps.

In the past, I used to jam on all gear and just use ableton to record. Now Im using ableton and hardware and want to make sure everything syncs well. Live 11 did not do this well. I have live 12 suite now and assume it will have the same issues.

I have not bought the Nome2 yet but it sounds like it may be something that makes my life easier as I dont have time to nerd my way out of issues as much anymore. Will this work for my setup. Want to sequence drums within Push and sequence external hardware as well. All in sync and recorded as I go. Looking for a time saver as I just want to Jam when the feeling is right!

I use Windows 11 as a side note. Have a focusrite 18i8 rev 3 as well, but using Push 3 SA now for my interface and midi out/in. Also Audio into the Push as well.

Thanks everyone in advance for any insight on this. CHEERS!

Hi :)

Welcome to the Community, and thanks for writing an introduction!

To sync Push and Ableton, you can do it with a Nome but you'd be better off with Link or any other "Ableton-based" synchonisation I believe?

To sync your hardware synths to Ableton, you can use the Nome, on Windows you will need to dedicated a track and an audio output for sync (which you will have to send to the Nome - which will then create a MIDI Clock and other clocks from for your hardware). Or you could use the Nome as a master clock for all of it: Ableton, Push, and all of your hardware. Depending on how and what you are recording it might work best :)
