Tempo knob unresponsive to Midi DAW control (U-Sync) while fully connected

Post by Wessel »

Midronome loses Midi connection to the tempo knob, making it unresponsive to changing the DAW's tempo. Only completely removing U-Sync (application, the script, the VST3 plugin) and reinstalling the software momentarily resolves the issue. It is unclear if the problem is caused by Cubase Pro 14 or MacOS Sequoia.

The sync led is on, the daemon says both DAW and Nome are connected. The VST3 plugin is loaded and the remote Midi is connected. I can play and stop the Nome via the DAW. The Midi input is set to control the DAW control.

Both the Nome I and U-Sync have the latest firmware/update. Same applies to Cubase Pro 14 and MacOS Sequoia.

How can I resolve this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Wessel

Thanks for asking here. You are saying that the Nome will still sync to Cubase (when you press play), but that you cannot change the tempo of CUbase using the Nome's tempo knob, correct?

The issue you are experiencing is 100% related to the Cubase MIDI Remote, nothing else. Nothing to do with the U-SYNC VST3 plugin or its track. You do not need to (and should not) set any MIDI input on the U-SYNC track.

I'll suggest you double-check the MIDI Remote setup, follow the steps in the U-SYNC Manual, section 6.3. In particular, verify that the correct MIDI ports are selected.

(note that the SYNC led should not be on unless the sync is "active", i.e. Cubase is currently playing - is this not the case?)

Hi Simon,

You are welcome and thank you for your response. And yes, that is correct. I can change the tempo on the Nome I and as soon as I hit play in Cubase the Nome 1's tempo changes back to the tempo set in Cubase.

I changed the Midi input because in one occassion it had an effect.
I followed the steps described in the manual but it had no effect. Could there be another Midi or USB Midi device hijacking the connection? If that might be the case should I disconnect all Midi / USB Midi devices and see if the Nome 1 works (and then connect each USB Midi device until the issue returns)?
Unless you would call Nome a DAW controller there is no DAW controller in use. The other Midi device is a Midiman USB Midi Hub/router.

The manual says nothing about the Project Synchronization Setup Dialog, could settings in there interfere with the Midi side of the Nome I?

The sync Led turns on only when Cubase is playing/recording.

Thanks in advance!
