Nome/ Beatstep Pro/ RD 9 Sync issue.

Hi All,
I'm using my Nome 2 with an Arturia Beatstep Pro and a Behringer RD8. The Nome is Master, connected via 2 separate midi cables to the beat step and Rd 8 respectively. The beat step midi out goes to a Behringer TD-3. It all works and buttons 1 and 2 of the Nome stop/ start the devices fine but the sync is not quite right, the beat step/ TD3 is behind. When I connect the Rd8 to the midi thru of the td3 (so midi out of the Nome, into the beat step, into td3 and thru to rd8) the sync is spot on and noticeably different.

I am probably being daft but I want to be able to control the devices both from the Nome so that I can stop/ start independently. Is this a quirk of the Beatstep Pro?

Rd8 and Beatstep are both set to Midi sync.

I'm not involving a DAW here and it's all running out through my RME Fireface UCX.

Thanks for asking here.

Let me make sure I understood this clearly. Let's call them setup A and B.

Setup A

Code: Select all

Nome [out1] --> [in] Beastep [out] --> [in] TD-3
     [out2] --> [in] Rd8

Setup B

Code: Select all

Nome [out1] --> [in] Beastep [out] --> [in] TD-3 [thru] --> [in] Rd8

Now you're saying that in Setup A the TD-3 is behind (out of sync) but not in Setup B, correct?

The Nome certainly send both clock and start/stop at the same exact time on its both outputs. But yes it could be that the Beatstep adds a delay somehow. Another possibility is that in Setup B the the Rd8 is getting more info (i.e. everything that comes out of the Beatstep including notes?).

Hi Simon,

The set up is exactly as you say, A and B.

I've just checked again and the issue is actually the RD8. It's behind the metronome of the Nome with set up A. The Beatstep and the TD3 are spot on, locked with the Nome metronome.

Everything is routed directly into the souncard.

Just tried the Beatstep and Arturia Minifreak with internal sequencer and all is perfect. RD8 is the issue for sure.
