Hi,
I’m looking at getting the Nome2 for using with my band as well as in the studio.
I want to be able to use a midi foot switch to stop/ start a sequencer. I have an Arturia beatstep pro, Arturia mini freak and korg minilogue xd so it will be some combination of these.
My questions are
1-can the nome, via a midi foot switch start the sequencer
2- is this a midi start message sent via midi cable
3- can it also stop it
4- I assume it’s only a single start stop and different midi devices can’t be started/ stopped independently
5- I assume I would have to start the sequencer at the start of the band playing and then bring the level up when we want it in or is there a way to trigger it so that it starts in sync with the metronome (I’d play to the nome click) even if the foot switch is pressed a tiny bit out of time? Basically I’m the drummer and I want to find a way to trigger the synths playing in time with the rest of the band Without using a computer (Ableton etc) or having a keyboard player!
I hope this makes sense.
Really hoping the Nome will work for us as looks a great bit of kit.

Re: Stop/ start midi sequencer
Hi Chris!
Thanks for asking here.
1. You can send MIDI Commands to the Nome but it has no 5-pin MIDI input so they need to be sent through the USB cable using something like Kenton USB midi host (or a computer). But you can also connect up to 2 simple footswitch to the device to do all sorts of different things (like most things on the Nome it is configurable), including Play/stop/resync
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. Yes, one per MIDI output, and each output is configurable independently. So you could have two "groups", one on each port. Or you can get 2 Nomes and then you have 4 independent start/stop
5. The whole point of the device is that no matter what you do the metronome and all devices are always in sync. The only case is if you start them without the Nome (by pressing play on the machine itself), and even in this case the Nome can easily resync them so they match the rest
In short: I think you'll love it and it should fit the band very nicely!

Re: Stop/ start midi sequencer
Hi Simon,
Thank you so much for your detailed answer.
Just to be clear- a foot switch would enable the nome to send out a midi start/ stop to trigger the sequencer?
Will certainly be ordering one!
Many thanks!
