Would be great if one could send MIDI PC# commands to the device to recall stored BPM/bars.
Here I have a USB-MIDI cable interface from ESI, which recognizes itself on which port data is being received/sent. In this sense, it would of course be nice if one of the Midronome's MIDI outs could be switched to In.
Ok, I understand that the existing configuration cannot be done without hardware changes...
But is it doable via the USB interface?
Without an additional device, such as a mobile phone, computer or special MIDI-USB converter, you probably can't send a PC# from a standard DIN MIDI port to the Midronome USB, right?
Is the midronome then class compliant?
Metronome tempo presets via MIDI PC# messages
Re: Metronome tempo presets via MIDI PC# messages
Nice, thank you 1vl.
If changing a MIDI output to a MIDI input on the fly is at all possible, it's definitely not easy (because of the way MIDI is made, the hardware behind a MIDI output and a MIDI input is very different). So this will require either an extra plug, or then it will use the USB plug.
Currently the USB plug is power only, changing this to be power+data is also quite a big hardware change, but it could be worth it to add all of the following:
* sending MIDI Clock over USB (for Ableton or Bitwig f.x.)
* receiving MIDI CC or PC commands over USB to set a specific BPM/time signature
* receiving MIDI CC or PC commands over USB to switch to a specific preset (if presets are implemented)
If the USB ends up being used for data, then yes it will definitely be class-compliant.
