Any way to resync DAW-Clock in fw4.0?

Post by spacialrob »

Hello,

Is there a way to re-sync the DAW clock with outboard gear connected to the Midronome? So, for example, whenever I load a plugin in my DAW while transport is running, it interrupts the clock just a fraction and bumps my gear half-a-beat out of alignment until I manually reset/restart transport. When stuff like this happens (i.e. loading a plugin, changing an input, etc.,) is there a function built into the Midronome that could bring them back into alignment? I'm using the older plugin for sync on Windows.

Hi Rob

If the issues is between the Nome and your hardware, then a simple long press of the Play button will resync them on the next bar.

But if the issue is between the DAW and the Nome, then there is nothing you can do except restart the transport unfortunately, as the plugin only sends pulses and not any time info, to readjust you need to stop the pulses and start them again.
Just one idea: you could potentially try muting and unmuting the plugin track exactly at the beginning of a bar - it would have to be done with automation otherwise the time would not be right. But it could be a speicla automation that you simply activate and deactivate to resync.

PS: I'm pretty sure this issue would not be there with U-SYNC, at least I never heard about it before. I'll keep it in mind in any case and make sure it is rock solid even when you load plugin

Thanks, Simon, I will try the automation-muting trick. I believe it is between the DAW and Nome, but I'll also test with the long-Play reset, too.

I do look forward to U-Sync, really impressive that you came up with such a stable algorithm to keep devices in time, even with those minor interruptions in play!
