Syncing Midronome to DAW

Hi.
I was hoping to Sync Midronome to my DAW and then have it send MIDI time code to my gear.
Upon reading the v2 manual I see I have to use the VST and send a click to the unit over an audio out of my interface.
Is there no other option to do this over the USB?
in my current set up all my audio outs are already used.
If that's not available now could it be in a future firmware update or is this simply not how the device works?
