Any way to configure Midronome to "drive" DAW clock sync?
Basically, what I have in mind is to use the Midronome to provide the master tempo for Ableton, as well as other external gear, by acting as the main synchronization hub for all things clock related. Ableton would be more like an instrument in this case, and all other gear would come back to the Midronome. The only problem is that I'm not sure how to get Ableton to sync tightly this way. Is it because it relies on USB MIDI data to drive Ableton's clock? Is there any way to get precise timing with Midronome acting as the master clock source for a DAW like Ableton?

Well Ableton will sync to the Midronome using MIDI Clock over USB.
USB is not uber precise, but it should be fine for most applications, and you can adjust the latency in Ableton.
You can improve the precision by reducing the amount of USB devices you have, and avoiding USB hubs.
Give it a go, if it works then there's no need to look for something more complicated
