Ableton Clip Launch issue

Hey all. I have Nome ii as master, Ableton 12 slaves via USB and an MPC one and Polyend Play connected to ports 1 and 2 of the Nome. I’m running Ableton in windows.

When I hit play on Nome it all syncs up nicely until I try to launch a different scene and Ableton’s CPU overloads and causes all manner of glitchy weirdness (not the good kind). Tested launching clips without the Nome and no issues. Even just running clock from the Nome causes Ableton’s cpu to hit around 20% higher than if Nome is bypassed. Any ideas? I can run Ableton as master but the sync with the MPC and Play just isn’t as tight. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi :)

Maybe someone else can confirm, but I have never seen Ableton's CPU usage increase drastically because it was synced to MIDI Clock. Maybe you have one particular plugin which does not like the fact Ableton is sync'ed?
In any case this is an Ableton issue, it has nothing to do with the Nome.

I would suggest syncing the Nome to Ableton instead, using the "audio sync track" method (you'll need a dedicated port on your audio interface). See the Nome II Manual section 6.3.

Hi Simon,

Thanks for the reply! Totally agree, it’s an Ableton issue which I’ve now sorted by freezing all my midi tracks :D and now it’s rock solid.
