USB recording and Nome question

Hi, I’m considering buying a Nome but not sure it will work with my use case.

I use my DAW to send clock to my TR-8S drum machine, and then record into my DAW using the TR-8S USB out, because it allows me to record all ~16 channels at once.

Would Nome keep everything tightly synced to the DAW grid, including the clock and recording?

Hi :)

The Nome will send a tight clock to your TR8S which you can easily adjust in time, this means you will easily move the internal timing of the TR8S so its recording lands on the grid in your DAW. But the fact that you are recording the tracks back in the DAW using Roland's special USB driver means the timing/latency of that driver will also play a role. If that latency is constantly moving, then there is nothing the Nome can do.

Please note as well that on Windows, you will need to use a dedicated audio output to send an audio sync track to the Nome. This might be difficult if you are using the Tr8S as you "main audio interface".
