U-SYNC in Pro Tools - lost comm after saving while playing

Post by cgoodan »

Status: there is a minor bug here, as the plugin marks Pro Tools as "not supported" when saving (sometimes). This will be solved in U-SYNC 1.3.
In the meantime, please use the following workaround: disable the plugin and re-enable it (i.e. Control+Cmd+Click two times on the plugin).

----

Short description of the issue: In Pro Tools, using the U-Sync plugin, whenever I try to save while in playback, the plugin loses communication with Pro Tools. I have to remove Midronome from AMS, restart, add Midronome back to AMS and reboot Pro Tools each time. AMS does not refresh a disconnected then re-connected Midronome, I have to restart.

Setup (devices connected and how): Midronome I

Steps to Reproduce: hit save while in playback

Expected Behavior: should save and continue playback in sync

Actual Behavior: plugin loses communication. Restart and AMS rebuild necessary each time.

Nome generation (I or II) and Firmware version: current

Hi again Charles, and thanks for reporting!

I remember you mentioning this bug on the FB group. I will investigate, do some testing and get back to you here.

Alright I tested this, there is definitely a slight issue.

In my session it does not happen every time (about 1 out of 5), and if I open the U-SYNC AAX plugin it says "This DAW is not supported".
Daemon and AMS are all fine, nothing changed there (which makes sense, it's just Pro Tools and the plugin which got confused)

Then all I need to do is disable the plugin and re-enable it (i.e. Control+Cmd+Click two times on the plugin) and the sync is back. Not ideal but it's at least a quick workaround until the bug is resolved.

Can you confirm you experience the same? If not we might need to look at your setup specically - also for the other issue you reported ( viewtopic.php?t=477 ) which I could not reproduce at all.

Making U-Sync inactive, then active again makes the plugin appear to be connected with the Nome II (plugin play indicator is yellow while playing), but Nome hardware is unresponsive. I have to reboot and rebuild Audio Midi Setup each time.
What have you found on your end?

Ok I see. My findings are as I wrote above, the only thing the plugin says is "This DAW is not supported", then disactivating/reactivating it makes everything work again. There must be something on your machine that is creating this behavior.
Can I have your precise macOS and Pro Tools version? And if you don't have the latest versions, can you try updating it?

I am afraid this will be very time-consuming and difficult to solve over simple messages, especially when one week passes between each of your replies. I am happy to jump on a video call (ideally with sharing screen capabilities) to try to solve this or at least learn more about what is happening.
Let me know :)
