Mac OS 10.5 compatibility

Post by GDM68 »

I need a solution to using one of these or the old mdironome with Logic 8 on a MacBook Pro 2009 if possible.
I’ve tried installing the new software plug in which unsurprisingly doesn’t install on my computer.

So

Does the old midrononme work with older operating systems and secondly is there any chance the new plug in can be tweaked for older OS?
It’s a pain as I was hoping to use one of either the old versions if I can pick one up second hand or the newer model.
I use a motu midi xpress usb for my hardware midi with motu 828 mk2 FireWire running ADAT audio into a Yamaha O2R which works ok but could do with tightening up.
Thanks

Hi :)

Well the devices themselves, both Nome I and II, are configurable and should be usable with your OS, as in they simply send MIDI Clock to the computer and all of the hardware stuff will work fine.

Getting U-SYNC to work on old OS - not a chance. But you could simply generate audio pulses - that does not require any plugin, just short and loud audio pulses at 24ppqn - and then use an audio cable, that sould work as well.

Ah, I didn’t realise they could send midi clock to Logic 8.
Of course it’s the old USB 1? cable to plug into my Mac laptop.
Thanks Simon.
Do I need an adaptor?
Sorry, total noob here! ;)
