Re: Tempo presets
Interesting thoughts! Yes I agree with the CC - I'll make sure to use this and Song Select, so you guys can choose ;) Regarding the pedal - you mean a basic footswitch that will be connected to the "INPUT" plug? That could be - just adding an extra mode to the "PEd" setting after...

Re: Any chance the tempo knob could control Ableton tempo in the future?
You guys are spot on - and yes it should definitely be possible - and hopefully very easy to implement!
I'll test it very soon - if it is easy this will come with the next firmware update

Gosh yea that does not look great  Thanks for trying all of this. The last run seemed to be looking for a file on " C:\Users\Hello!! " ? That looks very strange. It's hard for me to spend a lot of time improving or debugging this old tool as it is completely outdated (and yes using J...

Hi :) First I'm really sorry you have to go through this - not the best customer experience, I know  I've made a new zip for you on https://download.simntonic.com/software/windows/ called upgrade-midr-btl-step1-win-jar-only.zip It contains the jar file of the program, which you can launch usin...

Re: Any chance the tempo knob could control Ableton tempo in the future?
But I think it would just be really cool and intuitive if the physical tempo knob on the Midronome could be used to adjust the global Ableton tempo while using U-SYNC to sync the Midronome from the Ableton clock. Yes I would love that too - I agree that would be a really nice integration :) It has ...

Maybe this could be worked out for a few DAWs using a control interface.

Re: Usync vs. old methods
I understand your thinking :) And you're not wrong, syncing with the audio method is very accurate. But it's "only" sample accurate. If your tempo at 24ppq is not divisible by your sample rate, then you will inherently have some jitter since the audio pulses will be "quantized" b...

Re: inP Input Plug Mode is stuck on SYN
Well it should be the same - very stable
But yes if your device has MIDI I'd recommend to use that unless you have a reason not to (lack of ports, etc.).
The idea with DIN Sync is more for actual vintage devices like the original Roland 303, 606, etc. that did not have any MIDI input.

Re: Any chance the tempo knob could control Ableton tempo in the future?
Hi :) So first thing is: U-SYNC controls your Nome from Ableton, and if you also want to control Ableton from the Nome, that will be a very weird blocking result. So you can only do one or the other (at the same time), it's quick and easy to switch between the two. As for syncing Ableton to the Nome...

Re: inP Input Plug Mode is stuck on SYN
Hi :) Yes - if you check the manual the "Syn" setting is not only accessible by long-pressing the knob because it should only be used to sync multiple Nomes together - see section 6 of the manual ( https://go.simntonic.com/manual ). EDIT : actually the manual was not super clear about that...

Re: Sync to 1-12ppq signal + improved tap tempo
I would like to nome II to follow the band's tempo in live by taping external pedal. I would like to tap tempo with external pedal in eighth notes but Nome II would send clock in quarter notes. One possibility would be to select a factor (-2...) in the Nome II settings that would multiply or divide...

If you are using U-SYNC, please make sure to use version 1.0.1 (the latest version available on the website) and let us know if you have any issues

Re: Build-in speaker
Yes there is enough juice, and the output impedance is low enough as well - you can try it if you have a speaker at hand
I think the point is more the acoustics, trying to use the device case as a resonator for the sound so it amplifies it naturally

Re: Build-in speaker
Interesting!
Based on the community interest, this would never be an integral part of the device. It would be a simple attachable small speaker, purchased separately. The speaker will probably have a magnet and a plug to go into the "AUDIO" output

Re: Mac OS 10.5 compatibility
Hi :) Well the devices themselves, both Nome I and II, are configurable and should be usable with your OS, as in they simply send MIDI Clock to the computer and all of the hardware stuff will work fine. Getting U-SYNC to work on old OS - not a chance. But you could simply generate audio pulses - tha...

Re: I need firmware v3 - where to download?
Hi Karl
Sorry if this was not clear - you need to upgrade your bootloader which will also upgrade your firmware to 3.0 in the process. New firmware updates after that will be more automatic.
I have added a note about this on https://simntonic.com/pages/support

Re: [F] Software (U-Sync) doesnt connect to Midronome
Yes you only need USB. The "Locked" LED on both the physical device and the DAW plugin should light up orange when you press play. Is it not the case? If it is, then all is good and the reason your Octotrack does not track automatically is because you have not set the "autoplay" ...

Thanks for asking, and there are no dumb questions! :D But the answer is yes you can control Ableton (its tempo but also start/stop) with the Midronome. Simply check the "sync" checkbox in front of "Midronome Clock" in the Ableton MIDI preferences ;) Simon PS: moving this topic t...
